The Cando Exercise Band is a staple of rehabilitation, conditioning, and physical therapy programs — lightweight, portable, and available in 8 progressive resistance levels to accommodate users from the earliest stages of recovery through advanced conditioning. The Black resistance level is X-Heavy, the highest resistance in the Cando 8-level progressive system, appropriate for advanced rehabilitation, strength conditioning, and training for users who have progressed through lower resistance levels. The 5" width makes it the most versatile Cando band, effective for a wide range of upper and lower body exercises and compatible with Cando handle and anchor accessories. 6-yard patient roll — can be cut to length for individual use. Cando is licensed to use the Thera-Band color sequence, so resistance level is easily identified by color across both product lines. Made of natural rubber latex — for latex-sensitive users, a no-latex alternative formulation is available.
What does X-Heavy resistance mean and who is it appropriate for?
X-Heavy (Black) is the highest resistance level in the Cando 8-level progressive band system. It provides the greatest resistance to stretch, requiring the most force to elongate the band during exercise. X-Heavy resistance is appropriate for users who have built significant strength through lower resistance levels and need continued challenge to progress, or for users with a high baseline strength level for whom lower resistance bands do not provide adequate challenge. For rehabilitation use, X-Heavy is typically reached after progressing through multiple lower resistance levels over the course of a recovery program. If you are new to resistance band exercise, start with a lower resistance level and progress gradually.
How is the 6-yard roll used and can it be cut?
The 6-yard roll provides enough band for multiple individual lengths to be cut from a single roll, making it practical for clinical settings where bands are cut to length for individual patients, or for personal use where the user wants to cut multiple lengths for different exercises. The band can be cut with scissors to any desired length. Common individual lengths range from 4 to 6 feet depending on the exercise and the user's height. The roll format is more economical per yard than pre-cut individual bands.
Is a latex-free version of this band available?
Yes. Cando offers a no-latex alternative formulation of the Black X-Heavy band in the same 6-yard patient roll format (SKU 105615). The no-latex band is specially formulated to mimic the stretch characteristics of the latex band and is appropriate for users with latex sensitivity. The no-latex formulation is identifiable by the checkered pattern on its packaging. If latex sensitivity is a concern, the no-latex Cando Black X-Heavy band is the appropriate alternative.
What is the Thera-Band color sequence and why does it matter?
The Thera-Band color sequence is a standardized color-coding system for progressive resistance levels in exercise bands that is widely recognized in rehabilitation and physical therapy settings. Cando is licensed to use this color sequence, which means Cando bands follow the same color-to-resistance mapping as Thera-Band products. This allows clinicians and patients who are familiar with the Thera-Band color system to immediately identify the resistance level of a Cando band by color, without needing to learn a separate coding system. Black corresponds to X-Heavy resistance in both the Thera-Band and Cando color sequences.
