Easier sitting and standing — without replacing your toilet seat. The Carex Raised Toilet Seat adds 3.5" of height to your existing toilet, reducing the distance you need to lower and raise yourself during use. This makes a meaningful difference for users recovering from hip or knee surgery, seniors with limited mobility, and anyone with arthritis or joint pain that makes deep bending uncomfortable or unsafe. The elongated design fits both standard round and elongated toilet bowls, and the hardware-free installation sits securely under your existing toilet seat — which closes and functions normally on top of the riser. No tools, no drilling, no permanent modifications. Color: White.
How do I know if this will fit my toilet?
This raised toilet seat is designed to fit both standard round and elongated toilet bowls. Standard round bowls are approximately 16.5" long from the seat bolts to the front of the bowl; elongated bowls are approximately 18.5" long. The seat measures 19.25" in length, making it compatible with both bowl shapes. To confirm fit, measure the length of your toilet bowl from the seat bolt holes to the front rim — if it is 18.5" or less, this seat will fit. If your toilet has an unusual shape or a non-standard bowl, measure carefully before purchasing.
Does my existing toilet seat still work with this riser installed?
Yes. The raised toilet seat sits between the toilet bowl and your existing toilet seat. Your toilet seat is reinstalled on top of the riser, so it continues to open, close, and function normally. The lid also closes as usual. This is a key advantage over raised seats that replace the toilet seat entirely — your bathroom appearance and function remain unchanged.
Is 3.5" of added height enough?
For most users, 3.5" of additional height provides a meaningful reduction in the depth of the sit-to-stand movement and is sufficient for general mobility assistance and post-surgical recovery. Users with significant mobility limitations or those following strict hip precautions after total hip replacement may benefit from a higher riser (4" or 5") or a raised toilet seat with arms for additional support during standing. Consult your physical therapist or occupational therapist for a recommendation based on your specific needs.
How do I install and remove this raised toilet seat?
Remove your existing toilet seat by unscrewing the bolts at the back of the bowl. Place the raised toilet seat on the bowl, then reinstall your existing toilet seat on top of it — the seat bolts pass through the riser and secure into the bowl as usual. No additional hardware is required. To remove the riser for cleaning or when not in use, simply reverse the process. The entire installation and removal takes only a few minutes.
