The Roscoe Foam Wheelchair Cushion with Nylon Cover is designed to provide reliable pressure relief, comfort, and proper positioning for wheelchair users. Made of high-quality foam that contours to the seating area, this cushion helps stabilize and support the body while assisting in the prevention of pressure ulcers. Ideal for daily use in home care, rehabilitation, long-term care facilities, and clinical environments.
The removable waterproof nylon top protects the cushion from moisture, while the non-slip vinyl bottom keeps it securely in place during use. The cover unzips for easy cleaning, and each cushion comes in attractive retail packaging with a one-year manufacturer warranty. Available in 5 sizes including bariatric options to fit most standard and wide wheelchairs.
How do I choose the right cushion size for my wheelchair?
Measure the width of your wheelchair seat from armrest to armrest (inside measurement) and the seat depth from the front edge to the backrest. Choose a cushion that matches or is slightly smaller than your seat width — a cushion that is too wide will bunch against the armrests and a cushion that is too narrow will not provide full support. The standard sizes (16", 18", 20" wide) fit most standard wheelchairs. The bariatric sizes (22" and 24" wide) are designed for wider bariatric wheelchair frames. All sizes are 3" thick.
Will a foam cushion prevent pressure ulcers?
Foam cushions assist in the prevention of pressure ulcers by distributing body weight more evenly across the seating surface, reducing concentrated pressure on bony prominences such as the ischial tuberosities (sitting bones) and coccyx. A foam cushion is appropriate for users at low to moderate pressure ulcer risk. Users at high risk — such as those with limited sensation, poor circulation, or existing skin breakdown — may require a more advanced pressure redistribution cushion (gel, air, or alternating pressure). Consult a physician or wound care specialist for a proper risk assessment.
How do I clean the cushion cover?
The nylon cover is removable — unzip it from the foam core and wipe clean with a damp cloth and mild detergent, or machine wash on a gentle cycle if the care label permits. Allow to air dry fully before replacing on the foam. The waterproof nylon surface can also be wiped down directly without removing the cover for quick spot cleaning. Do not wash the foam core — spot clean only if needed and allow to air dry completely.
Can this cushion be used in a standard chair or transport chair, not just a wheelchair?
Yes. The non-slip vinyl bottom keeps the cushion in place on most seating surfaces, making it suitable for use in standard chairs, transport chairs, shower chairs, and other seated applications where pressure relief and comfort are needed. It is not limited to wheelchair use.
