Simple, effective finger flexion exercise for rehabilitation and strength building. This rubber band hand exerciser is designed for finger flexion exercises that improve grip strength, range of motion, and hand function during rehabilitation or maintenance therapy. Resistance is easily adjusted by increasing or decreasing the number of rubber bands in use — making it suitable for a wide range of patients from early post-operative recovery to advanced strengthening. A flexion limiter (spacer) is included to decrease range of motion when full flexion is not yet appropriate. Comes with 5 red light resistance bands.
How do I adjust the resistance?
The exerciser uses rubber bands to create resistance during finger flexion. To increase resistance, add more bands to the device. To decrease resistance, remove bands. Starting with fewer bands and progressing gradually is recommended — especially during early rehabilitation when the hand and fingers may be weak or sensitive. Follow your occupational therapist’s or physical therapist’s guidance on appropriate resistance levels for your specific condition and stage of recovery.
What is the flexion limiter and when should I use it?
The flexion limiter (spacer) is an accessory that limits how far the fingers can flex during the exercise, reducing the total range of motion. It is used when full finger flexion is not yet appropriate — for example, in the early stages of tendon repair recovery where excessive flexion could stress the repair site. As healing progresses and your therapist clears you for greater range of motion, the limiter can be removed to allow full flexion. Always follow your therapist’s protocol for when and how to use the flexion limiter.
What conditions is this exerciser used for?
This rubber band hand exerciser is commonly used in rehabilitation for conditions including flexor and extensor tendon repairs, trigger finger, Dupuytren’s contracture release, fractures of the hand and fingers, arthritis, and general grip weakness. It is also used for maintenance exercises in patients with chronic hand conditions. Always use under the guidance of a qualified occupational therapist or physical therapist to ensure the exercises are appropriate for your specific diagnosis and stage of recovery.
Can I purchase additional or stronger resistance bands?
The exerciser comes with 5 red light resistance bands. Depending on the manufacturer, additional bands or higher resistance bands (such as medium or heavy) may be available separately. Check our store for compatible replacement or upgrade bands, or consult your therapist about appropriate resistance progression for your home exercise program.
