These 20-30 mmHg knee high compression stockings are well suited for individuals with moderate to moderately severe venous insufficiency, including those with significant varicose veins, chronic leg swelling, post-thrombotic syndrome, or a history of deep vein thrombosis who require a higher level of graduated compression than the 15-20 mmHg range provides. They are a practical choice for individuals who have been prescribed firm compression by a physician or vascular specialist and need a reliable, affordable stocking that delivers accurate gradient compression without the cost of a custom-fitted garment. Post-surgical patients recovering from venous procedures such as vein stripping, ablation, or sclerotherapy who have been advised to wear 20-30 mmHg compression during the recovery period will find this stocking appropriate for daily post-procedure wear. They are also appropriate for individuals with occupations that involve prolonged standing or sitting who experience significant leg fatigue, heaviness, or swelling and need a firmer compression level than moderate-grade stockings provide.
How is 20-30 mmHg different from 15-20 mmHg compression?
20-30 mmHg is a firm compression level, providing greater graduated pressure than the moderate 15-20 mmHg range. It is typically recommended for individuals with more significant venous conditions such as moderate varicose veins, chronic edema, post-thrombotic syndrome, or as directed by a physician following venous procedures. If you are unsure which compression level is appropriate for your condition, consult your physician or vascular specialist before purchasing.
How do I know if Small is the right size?
The Small size fits an ankle circumference of 7" to 8.25" and a calf circumference of 11" to 15". Measure your ankle at its narrowest point and your calf at its widest point in the morning before swelling occurs. Compare your measurements to the Jobst Relief size chart to confirm the correct size. Contact us if you need sizing assistance.
How do I put on compression stockings?
Turn the stocking inside out down to the heel, place your foot into the toe and heel section, then gradually roll or pull the stocking up the leg, smoothing out any wrinkles as you go. Do not pull from the top band. A stocking donner or rubber gloves can make application easier, especially for individuals with limited hand strength or dexterity. Higher compression levels like 20-30 mmHg can be more difficult to don — a donning aid is recommended.
How do I care for these stockings?
Hand or machine wash with warm water and mild soap or detergent. Do not use chlorine bleach. Hang or lay flat to air dry, or tumble dry on low heat or the delicate setting. Use a mesh laundry bag during machine washing to protect the stocking fibers and extend garment life. Replace when the stocking no longer feels as supportive, typically after 3 to 6 months of daily wear.
