Professional-grade comfort, safety, and adjustability for home care and assisted living. The ProBasics Full Electric Bed Package allows independent or simultaneous adjustment of the head and foot sections via a large-button hand pendant — no manual cranking required for positioning. The welded steel split frame is built for long-term durability, while the lightweight foot section (just 42 lbs) makes one-person delivery and setup straightforward. The 9V battery backup lowers the bed to a safe position during power failures. Package includes the full electric bed frame, satin-foam compressed mattress, half bed rails, and hand pendant.
What is the difference between a full electric and a semi-electric hospital bed?
A full electric hospital bed adjusts both the head section and the foot section electrically via a hand pendant — the patient or caregiver can change positioning without any manual cranking. A semi-electric bed adjusts the head and foot sections electrically but requires a manual crank to adjust the overall bed height. The ProBasics full electric bed uses a manual crank only for overall frame height adjustment, while all head and foot positioning is handled by the electric motor and pendant. Full electric beds are preferred when the patient needs to reposition frequently or independently.
What does Trendelenburg positioning mean and when is it used?
Trendelenburg position tilts the entire bed so the patient’s feet are higher than their head. Reverse Trendelenburg tilts the bed in the opposite direction, with the head higher than the feet. These positions are used clinically for specific medical indications — Trendelenburg is sometimes used to improve venous return or facilitate certain procedures, while reverse Trendelenburg can reduce aspiration risk and improve respiratory function in patients with breathing difficulties. The ability to achieve these positions is a clinical feature that distinguishes hospital-grade beds from standard adjustable beds.
What does the 9V battery backup do?
In the event of a power outage or electrical failure, the 9V battery backup activates automatically and lowers the bed to its lowest safe height position. This is a critical safety feature — a bed left at maximum height during a power failure creates a fall risk if the patient attempts to exit the bed. The battery backup ensures the bed can be safely lowered even without power. The 9V battery is not included and should be installed before the bed is put into use. Replace the battery periodically to ensure the backup system is functional.
What installation or setup is required?
The ProBasics full electric bed is designed for one-person delivery and setup — the foot section weighs just 42 lbs, making it manageable without additional help. The split frame design allows the bed to be moved through standard doorways in sections. The motor attaches and detaches quickly for easy service or cleaning. The hand pendant plugs into the motor unit. No special electrical installation is required — the bed plugs into a standard household outlet. The 9V battery for the backup system should be installed before first use.
