Maximum stability and strength for users who need it most. This heavy-duty quad cane features a reinforced steel large base and a durable 1" aluminum shaft rated to 500 lbs — providing exceptional four-point stability for bariatric users, post-surgery recovery, and anyone who needs a cane they can truly rely on. The contoured vinyl hand grip reduces hand fatigue during extended use, and the one-button height adjustment sets the cane from 30" to 39" for a personalized fit. The handle is suitable for left- or right-hand use. Chrome finish. Limited lifetime warranty.
Stand upright with shoes on — the handle should align with your wrist crease when your arm hangs naturally at your side. This cane adjusts from 30" to 39", fitting most users approximately 4’11" to 6’4" tall. If you are between sizes, size up for comfort. The large quad base provides a wider footprint than a small-base quad cane — confirm doorway and tight-space clearance before ordering if needed.
What is the difference between a large-base and small-base quad cane?
A large-base quad cane has a wider four-point base footprint that provides greater lateral stability — it is harder to tip sideways and offers more surface contact with the floor. This makes it the preferred choice for users with significant balance impairment, weakness, or high fall risk. A small-base quad cane has a narrower footprint that is easier to maneuver in tight spaces and fits more naturally into a standard walking gait. The large base is generally recommended when maximum stability is the priority; the small base is better when maneuverability and a more natural gait pattern are the priority.
How do I set the correct handle height?
Stand upright in your normal footwear with your arms relaxed at your sides. The handle of the cane should align with the crease of your wrist. At this height, your elbow will have a slight bend (approximately 15–20 degrees) when you grip the handle — this is the ergonomically correct position for cane use. A handle set too low forces you to hunch; too high causes shoulder elevation and reduces control. This cane adjusts from 30" to 39" using the one-button adjustment system — press the button, slide to the desired height, and release until the button clicks into the hole.
Can this cane be used on stairs?
Quad canes are generally not recommended for stair use because the four-point base cannot be placed on a single stair tread safely — the base is too wide to fit on most standard stair treads without tipping. For stair navigation, a standard single-tip cane or a stair handrail is safer. Use the quad cane on level surfaces, ramps, and smooth outdoor terrain where the four-point base can make full contact with the ground. Consult a physical or occupational therapist for guidance on safe stair technique if stair navigation is a concern.
How do I switch the handle from right to left hand?
The handle on this quad cane is designed to be repositioned for left- or right-hand use. To switch, loosen or remove the handle attachment at the top of the shaft, rotate the handle 180 degrees so the offset faces the correct direction for the intended hand, and re-secure. The offset of the handle should angle forward and slightly inward toward the body when held in the correct hand — this positions the cane tip slightly ahead of the user’s foot for proper gait mechanics. Refer to the included instructions for the specific adjustment steps for this model.
