Fall prevention and bedside convenience in one. This safety bed rail provides essential nighttime security and stability for adults recovering from surgery, managing mobility challenges, or seeking added support getting in and out of bed. The sturdy 30" wide rail prevents rolling or falling out of bed, while the fold-down design allows easy entry, exit, and bed-making without removing the rail. A dual safety strap system secures the rail firmly to any standard home or hospital bed frame. The included storage pouch keeps remotes, glasses, phones, and personal items within easy reach at the bedside. Installs in minutes with 4 bolts and an included Allen wrench. Weight capacity: 300 lbs.
How does the dual safety strap system work?
The dual safety strap system uses two straps that thread under the mattress and attach to the bed frame on each side of the rail mounting point. This creates a secure, two-point anchor that prevents the rail from shifting or pulling away from the bed during use. The straps are adjustable to fit different mattress thicknesses and bed frame widths. Always confirm both straps are fully tightened and the rail does not wobble before use — a loose rail is a fall hazard rather than a fall prevention device.
Will this rail fit my bed frame?
This rail is compatible with most standard home and hospital bed frames. The dual strap system accommodates a range of mattress thicknesses and frame widths. It can be installed on either the left or right side of the bed. If your bed has a platform frame without a box spring, or a very thick mattress (such as a memory foam mattress over 12"), confirm that the strap length is sufficient to reach under the mattress and secure to the frame before ordering.
Is this rail safe to use as a transfer assist handle?
The rail is designed to provide stability support for getting in and out of bed — users can grip the rail to assist with sitting up, swinging legs over the side, and standing. The 300 lb weight capacity and dual strap anchoring system are designed to handle the lateral and downward forces of transfer use. However, for patients with significant weakness, balance impairment, or high fall risk, a physical or occupational therapist should assess the appropriate assistive device and transfer technique before relying on a bed rail as the primary transfer aid.
How do I fold the rail down for bed-making?
The fold-down mechanism allows the rail to pivot flat against the side of the bed without detaching from the frame. To fold down, lift the rail slightly and pivot it outward and downward until it rests flat alongside the mattress. This allows full access to the bed surface for sheet changes and bed-making without removing the rail or its straps. To return the rail to the upright position, lift it back up until it locks into the vertical position. The rail should click or lock securely in the upright position before the patient uses it.
