Reading a blood pressure monitor accurately requires good vision and familiarity with the display — two things that can't always be assumed for seniors, users with vision challenges, or bilingual households. The Blue Jay Perfect Measure Deluxe Talking Blood Pressure Monitor addresses both with a fully automatic one-touch operation and a talking readout that announces systolic, diastolic, and pulse readings aloud in English, Spanish, or Off with adjustable volume control. The extra-large 5.2" backlit LCD with 1.25" tall digits ensures the reading is easy to see even without the audio. Two-user memory stores 90 readings per user (180 total) with date and time stamp for tracking trends over time. WHO classification color coding provides an at-a-glance health status indicator, and arrhythmia detection monitors for irregular heartbeat during each measurement. Built-in cuff storage with a portable handle design. Auto-off function preserves battery life. 3-year manufacturer warranty.
How does the talking feature work and can the volume be adjusted?
After each measurement, the monitor announces the systolic pressure, diastolic pressure, and pulse rate aloud using a built-in speaker. The language can be set to English, Spanish, or Off using the language selector. The volume is adjustable so the readout can be heard clearly in a quiet home environment or turned down for more private use. The talking feature is particularly useful for users who have difficulty reading the display due to vision impairment, or for users who want to hear the reading without looking at the monitor during measurement.
What is the WHO classification indicator and what do the colors mean?
The World Health Organization (WHO) has established classification ranges for blood pressure readings that categorize readings from optimal to severe hypertension. The WHO classification indicator on this monitor uses color coding to display which category the current reading falls into — providing an at-a-glance health status interpretation without requiring the user to manually compare their reading to a reference chart. The color categories typically range from green (optimal/normal) through yellow (high normal) to red (hypertension stages). Consult your healthcare provider for guidance on interpreting your readings and what action, if any, is appropriate based on your specific health history.
How does the 2-user memory work?
The monitor stores up to 90 readings per user for two separate users, for a total of 180 stored readings. Each reading is stored with the date and time it was taken, allowing both users to review their measurement history and track trends over time. To switch between users, select the appropriate user profile before taking a measurement. This feature is particularly useful for couples or household members who both need to monitor their blood pressure regularly and want to keep their readings separate without using two separate devices.
What arm circumference does the included cuff fit and is a larger cuff available?
The included standard adult cuff fits arm circumferences from 9.4" to 13.4" (approximately 24 to 34 cm). If your arm circumference is larger than 13.4", the standard cuff will not provide an accurate reading — using a cuff that is too small results in artificially elevated readings. A large adult cuff (Model BJ120121) is available separately and fits larger arm circumferences. Measure your upper arm circumference at the midpoint between the shoulder and elbow before ordering to confirm the correct cuff size for accurate readings.
