TheraBand Resistive Exercise Tubing is the gold standard in progressive resistance training for rehabilitation and physical therapy. Available in 25 ft. and 100 ft. bulk rolls across 7 color-coded resistance levels — from lightest (Tan) to heaviest (Silver). The color-coded progressive resistance system is universally recognized by physical therapists and rehab professionals worldwide, making it easy to track progression and communicate resistance levels across clinical and home settings. Ideal for clinics, therapy departments, and home exercise programs.
What is the difference between exercise tubing and exercise bands?
Exercise tubing is a round, hollow latex tube, while exercise bands (also called resistance bands or flat bands) are flat latex strips. Both provide progressive resistance and follow the same TheraBand color-coded resistance sequence. Tubing is often preferred for exercises that use handles or anchor attachments, as the tube ends can be looped through a handle or door anchor more easily than a flat band. Flat bands are generally preferred for exercises where the band wraps around a limb or body part, such as hip abduction or ankle exercises. Both formats are used extensively in physical therapy — your therapist will specify which format is appropriate for your exercise program.
Which resistance level should I choose?
For rehabilitation patients and beginners, Yellow (Thin/Light) or Red (Medium) is the most common starting point for tubing-based exercises. Tan (X-Light) is available in the 100 ft. roll for patients who need the lightest possible resistance. For users with more strength or experience, Green (Heavy) through Silver (Super Heavy) provides progressively greater challenge. If you are working with a physical therapist, they will prescribe the specific resistance level appropriate for your treatment program. When in doubt, start lighter — proper form with less resistance is always more effective and safer than poor form with more resistance.
When should I choose the 25 ft. roll vs. the 100 ft. roll?
The 25 ft. roll is well suited for individual home use — it provides enough tubing for a full home exercise program with multiple exercise lengths cut from the roll. The 100 ft. roll is the clinical format, used by physical therapy departments and clinics that dispense individual lengths (typically 4–6 feet per patient) to multiple patients from a single roll. The 100 ft. roll offers a lower cost per foot and is the economical choice for high-volume clinical use. Note that Tan (X-Light) is only available in the 100 ft. format.
Can I use this tubing if I have a latex allergy?
No — TheraBand Resistive Exercise Tubing is made from latex and is not suitable for users with a latex allergy or latex sensitivity. Latex allergies can cause skin reactions ranging from mild irritation to severe allergic responses. TheraBand offers a latex-free CLX resistance band line for users who cannot use latex products. Consult your therapist or physician before purchasing if you are unsure about latex sensitivity.
