The Breg ThermoActive Knee Support combines circumferential compression with hot or cold therapy in a single patented system. The anatomical wrap with easy-to-adjust hook and loop closure applies consistent compression around the knee, while the patented removable gel pack can be frozen for cold therapy or heated for warm therapy depending on the clinical indication. A unique hand-held pump allows the user to adjust the level of compression independently. Extender straps are included for larger circumferences. Indicated for ligament injuries and strains (ACL, PCL, MCL), meniscus strain or injury, patellar tendonitis, chondromalacia, bursitis, arthritis, and post-surgical treatment.
This cryo-compression knee support is well suited for orthopedic and sports medicine patients recovering from ACL, PCL, or MCL ligament injuries, meniscus injuries, or knee surgery who need simultaneous compression and cold therapy to control swelling, reduce pain, and support the early stages of rehabilitation. It is a practical choice for physical therapists and athletic trainers who prescribe combined compression and cryotherapy for acute knee injuries and post-surgical recovery, as the adjustable hand pump allows precise compression control without removing the wrap. Athletes returning from knee injuries who need a support that can be used both during rehabilitation and as a preventive measure during return-to-sport activities will benefit from the versatility of the hot/cold gel pack, which can be used for pre-activity warm-up or post-activity recovery. It is also appropriate for individuals with chronic knee conditions such as arthritis, bursitis, or patellar tendonitis who benefit from the combination of consistent compression and thermal therapy to manage daily pain and inflammation.
How do I use the gel pack for cold therapy?
Place the gel pack in the freezer for the recommended time (refer to the product instructions for specific freezing duration). Once frozen, insert the gel pack into the wrap pocket and apply the support to the knee. The frozen gel pack delivers cold therapy directly to the knee while the wrap maintains compression.
How do I use the gel pack for heat therapy?
Heat the gel pack according to the product instructions (typically in warm water or a microwave for a specified time and temperature). Insert the heated gel pack into the wrap pocket and apply the support. Heat therapy is typically used for chronic conditions, pre-activity warm-up, or later stages of rehabilitation when inflammation has subsided.
How does the hand pump work?
The hand-held pump connects to the wrap and allows you to inflate or deflate the compression bladder to your desired level of compression. Squeeze the pump to increase compression and use the release valve to decrease it. This allows you to adjust compression throughout the day without removing the support.
Do I need extender straps?
Extender straps are included and are needed if your below-knee circumference exceeds 20 inches or your above-knee circumference exceeds 21 inches. The extender straps expand the fit range to 30 inches below the knee and 31 inches above the knee.
