This listing is for the cuff only. The Aircast cooling system and accessories are not included.
The Aircast Back/Hip/Rib Cuff is a reusable cold therapy wrap designed to deliver targeted cold distribution to the back, hip, or rib area when connected to a compatible Aircast cryotherapy system. The adjustable wrap design allows secure placement and comfortable positioning across the treatment area, and the reusable construction makes it suitable for repeated therapy sessions over the course of a recovery program. Blue. Dimensions: 13.5" L x 10.5" H x 1" W. Cuff only — compatible Aircast cooling system sold separately.
What Aircast systems is this cuff compatible with?
This cuff is designed for use with compatible Aircast cryotherapy systems — such as the Aircast Cryo/Cuff system and similar Aircast cold therapy units that use the standard Aircast cuff connector. Confirm your specific Aircast system model is compatible with this cuff before ordering. If you are unsure of your system's compatibility, contact us with your Aircast system model number for confirmation.
Why is cold therapy used for back, hip, and rib injuries?
Cold therapy (cryotherapy) reduces pain and swelling by constricting blood vessels at the treatment site, which limits the flow of inflammatory fluid into the injured tissue. It also temporarily reduces nerve conduction velocity, which decreases the perception of pain in the treated area. For back, hip, and rib injuries — which are often associated with significant soft tissue inflammation and muscle spasm — targeted cold therapy applied consistently in the early stages of recovery can help manage pain and swelling more effectively than ice packs, which lose temperature quickly and do not conform well to these body areas.
How is this cuff different from a standard ice pack?
A standard ice pack provides cold therapy through direct contact with the skin surface, but loses temperature relatively quickly and does not conform precisely to the contours of the back, hip, or rib area. The Aircast cuff is connected to a cryotherapy system that circulates cold water through the cuff at a consistent temperature, maintaining therapeutic cold for the duration of the treatment session without the temperature fluctuations of a melting ice pack. The cuff's adjustable wrap design also allows it to conform closely to the treatment area, providing more consistent cold distribution than a flat ice pack.
How do I care for and store the cuff between uses?
After each use, disconnect the cuff from the cooling system and allow it to air dry completely before storing. Wipe the exterior with a damp cloth if needed — do not submerge the cuff or expose the connector to water. Store in a clean, dry location away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Inspect the cuff before each use for signs of wear, cracking, or damage to the bladder or connector, and replace if the cuff shows signs of deterioration that could affect performance or hygiene.
