When foot and ankle recovery demands more than a standard rigid boot, the Aircast XP Pneumatic Cam Walker delivers the next level of support. The overlapping Duplex AirCell system provides intermittent pneumatic compression directly to the injured area — reducing edema, promoting callus formation, and delivering a custom total-contact fit that rigid boots simply cannot match. The lightweight semi-rigid shell protects the limb with full-shell coverage while keeping the overall weight manageable for daily ambulation. Each cell can be individually inflated using the included hand bulb pump, allowing the user or clinician to fine-tune compression throughout the recovery process. Includes two socks and a hand bulb pump. Small size fits Men's shoe size 4–7 and Women's shoe size 5–8.
What is the Duplex AirCell system and how does it work?
The Duplex AirCell system consists of two overlapping air cells positioned on either side of the ankle and foot. When inflated, the cells apply gentle, even pneumatic compression to the injured area, which helps reduce swelling by promoting fluid movement away from the injury site. The overlapping design ensures consistent contact across the contours of the foot and ankle, providing a more uniform compression than a single-cell system. The cells can be inflated independently using the included hand bulb pump, allowing the user or clinician to customize the level of compression on each side.
How do I inflate the air cells?
Use the included hand bulb pump to inflate each air cell individually. Connect the pump to the valve on each cell and squeeze the bulb until the desired level of compression is achieved — the boot should feel snug and supportive without causing discomfort or restricting circulation. If the boot feels too tight or you experience numbness or tingling, release some air by pressing the valve release. Your healthcare provider can guide you on the appropriate inflation level for your specific condition.
What is Brace-Lok compatibility?
Brace-Lok is an Aircast accessory system that allows the cam walker to be locked at a specific angle of dorsiflexion, which can be useful during certain phases of rehabilitation where controlled range of motion is prescribed. If your treatment plan includes progressive range-of-motion protocols, ask your healthcare provider whether the Brace-Lok system is appropriate for your recovery.
How do I choose the correct size?
The Small size fits Men's shoe sizes 4 to 7 and Women's shoe sizes 5 to 8. If you are between sizes or at the upper end of the Small range, consult with your healthcare provider before ordering. A properly fitted cam walker should feel snug and supportive without creating pressure points or restricting circulation in the foot or ankle.
