Will this set fit my home hospital bed mattress?
This bedding set is designed to fit standard home hospital bed mattresses up to 36" wide x 80" long x 8" thick. Most standard home hospital bed mattresses fall within these dimensions. If your mattress is thicker than 8" — such as a foam or innerspring mattress over 8" — the fitted sheet may not stretch fully over the corners. Measure your mattress thickness before ordering if you are unsure. The set is compatible with manual, semi-electric, and full electric hospital bed frames.
What is the difference between jersey knit and percale fabric?
Jersey knit is a stretchy, soft fabric similar to a T-shirt material — it conforms easily to the mattress corners and stays in place during repositioning, which is particularly important for patients who move frequently or require regular turning. Percale is a tightly woven, crisp cotton-blend fabric with a smooth, cool feel — it is used for the top sheet and pillowcase where stretch is less important and a clean, smooth surface is preferred. The combination of jersey knit for the fitted sheet and percale for the top sheet and pillowcase is a standard approach in hospital bedding for both comfort and practicality.
Can this bedding be used with a hospital bed that has side rails?
Yes. The bedding set is designed for standard home hospital beds, which typically include side rails. The fitted sheet tucks under the mattress and is not affected by side rail position. When making the bed with side rails in place, lower one rail at a time to access each side of the mattress. The jersey knit fitted sheet’s stretch makes it easier to tuck and smooth the sheet with one-handed access from the side of the bed.
How do I launder the bedding?
Machine wash in warm water on a gentle or normal cycle with mild detergent. Tumble dry on medium heat. Avoid bleach on the thermal blanket, which can break down cotton fibers over time — use an oxygen-based whitener if needed. The percale top sheet and pillowcase can be ironed on a medium setting if a crisp finish is preferred. Wash bedding frequently — at least weekly for patients on extended bed rest — to maintain hygiene and skin health.
