The Blue Jay Get Your Sock On Sock Aid is a flexible terrycloth sock aid designed for assisted sock donning from a seated upright position. The terrycloth exterior grips the sock and holds it in position on the aid during application, while the smooth nylon inner fabric reduces friction against the foot and heel as the sock slides on. The flexible plastic inner core bends with the natural contours of the foot and heel for a comfortable fit. The 25-inch looped handle allows the aid to be lowered to the floor and retrieved without forward bending. This is a hygienic product — no returns are accepted once the package has been opened or the item has been tried on.
Occupational therapists recommending sock aids for patients with hip precautions or movement restrictions that limit forward reach will find the Blue Jay terrycloth model a flexible, comfortable option that accommodates a range of sock thicknesses. Physical therapy and rehabilitation programs that include adaptive dressing equipment training will find the 25-inch handle length suitable for most seated positions and standard chair and bed heights. Home health aides and caregivers assisting patients with lower-body dressing tasks will find the terrycloth grip and nylon inner surface a practical combination for consistent sock placement and smooth application. DME suppliers and occupational therapy clinics that stock sock aids for patient recommendation will find the flexible core a distinguishing feature compared to rigid plastic sock aid models.
How do I use a sock aid?
Open the sock and slide it over the terrycloth exterior so the sock opening is at the top and the toe is at the bottom of the aid. Hold the looped handle and lower the aid to the floor in front of your foot. Slide your foot into the sock opening and push your foot down into the sock while pulling the handle upward. The nylon inner surface reduces friction so the sock slides onto the foot smoothly. Pull the aid out from inside the sock by continuing to pull the handle upward and toward you.
What types of socks work with this aid?
The terrycloth exterior grips most standard socks including cotton, nylon, and light compression socks. Thicker socks such as athletic and crew socks work well. Very thin dress socks or socks with minimal elasticity may be more difficult to position on the aid. For high-compression stockings, a dedicated compression stocking donner may provide easier application.
Why is the handle 25 inches long?
The 25-inch handle allows the user to lower the sock aid to the floor and pull it back up while seated upright without forward bending. This length accommodates most seated positions and body proportions for standard chair and bed heights. The looped end can be gripped at different points along its length if needed.
Why is this item non-returnable once opened?
This is a hygienic product that comes into contact with the foot. Once the package has been opened or the item has been tried on, it cannot be returned. Please confirm the product is appropriate for your needs before opening the package.
