The Cando Low Powder Exercise Band has been a staple of physical therapy programs since 1987 — a high-quality natural rubber latex resistive band used in clinics for rehabilitation, conditioning, and training. The 50-yard dispenser box format is designed for clinical settings where band is unrolled and cut to length with scissors as needed, with a core that fits most standard dispenser racks for convenient countertop or wall-mounted dispensing. Red resistance level is Light, one of the entry-level options in the Cando 8-level progressive system, appropriate for users beginning a rehabilitation program or working on range of motion and light strengthening. 5" wide. Low powder formulation. Made of natural rubber latex — for latex-sensitive users, no-latex alternative formulations are available.
What is the difference between this 50-yard dispenser box and the 6-yard patient roll?
The 50-yard dispenser box is a clinical bulk format designed for facilities that cut band to length for individual patients from a shared roll. The core fits standard dispenser racks, allowing the box to be mounted or placed on a counter for easy access during patient sessions. The 6-yard patient roll is a smaller format intended for individual patient use — the patient takes the roll home and uses it for their home exercise program. The dispenser box is more economical per yard for high-volume clinical use, while the patient roll is the appropriate format for individual patient distribution.
What does low powder mean and why does it matter?
Low powder refers to the amount of cornstarch powder used in the manufacturing process of natural rubber latex bands. Standard latex bands are manufactured with a higher powder content that can leave residue on the hands and surfaces during use. Low powder bands use significantly less powder, reducing the residue and making the band cleaner to handle during exercise. In clinical settings, low powder bands are generally preferred for hygiene and cleanliness reasons. The low powder formulation does not affect the resistance or stretch characteristics of the band.
Where does Red (Light) fall in the Cando resistance progression?
The Cando band system has 8 progressive resistance levels from lightest to heaviest: Tan, Yellow, Red, Green, Blue, Black, Silver, and Gold. Red (Light) is the third level in the progression, appropriate for users who have progressed past the lightest resistances (Tan and Yellow) or who are beginning at a light resistance level. As strength and endurance improve, users progress to Green (Medium), Blue (Heavy), and beyond. Starting at an appropriate resistance level and progressing gradually is important for safe, effective rehabilitation and conditioning.
Is a latex-free version of this band available?
Yes. Cando offers no-latex alternative formulations of their exercise bands in the same resistance levels and formats for users with latex sensitivity. The no-latex bands are specially formulated to mimic the stretch characteristics of the latex band and are available in both patient roll and dispenser box formats. The no-latex formulation is identifiable by the checkered pattern on its packaging. If latex sensitivity is a concern for your patients or facility, the no-latex Cando band is the appropriate alternative.
