Advanced grip strength training for high-level rehabilitation and athletic conditioning. The CanDo Hand Exercise Grips in Black (X-Hard, 48 lbs) are the highest resistance level in the CanDo ergonomic grip sequence — designed for advanced rehabilitation patients and athletes who require maximum resistance for grip strength development. The ergonomic grip shape fits comfortably in the hand for controlled, consistent squeezing exercises, and the progressive CanDo resistance sequence ensures a clear, structured path from early rehabilitation through peak performance. Sold in pairs.
How does the CanDo resistance sequence work?
The CanDo grip sequence uses color coding to indicate resistance level, with the force requirement doubling at each step — from Yellow (X-Soft, lightest) through Red, Green, Blue, and Black (X-Hard, 48 lbs, heaviest). This progressive structure allows therapists and patients to advance resistance in a controlled, measurable way as grip strength improves. The Black level is the final step in the sequence and is intended for patients who have completed lower resistance levels or for athletes with established grip strength.
Is the Black level appropriate for me?
The Black X-Hard grip at 48 lbs is the highest resistance in the CanDo sequence and is intended for advanced rehabilitation patients in the final stages of recovery, or for athletes and active individuals with strong baseline grip strength. If you are in early or mid-stage rehabilitation, a lower resistance level (Yellow, Red, Green, or Blue) is more appropriate. Always follow your occupational therapist’s or physical therapist’s guidance on which resistance level is right for your current stage of recovery or training.
How do I use hand exercise grips correctly?
Hold one grip in each hand with the ergonomic shape fitting naturally in your palm. Squeeze the grip fully, hold for 2–3 seconds, then slowly release. Perform the number of repetitions and sets prescribed by your therapist. Avoid gripping so hard that you experience pain — some muscle fatigue is normal, but sharp or joint pain is a signal to stop and consult your therapist. Use both hands equally unless your therapist has specified unilateral training.
Can I purchase other resistance levels separately?
Yes. The CanDo hand exercise grips are available in all five resistance levels (Yellow, Red, Green, Blue, and Black) and are sold in pairs at each level. Check our store for the full CanDo grip sequence if you need a lower resistance level for earlier-stage rehabilitation or to build a complete progressive set.
