Reach further, bend less, stay independent. The Blue Jay Reacher Grabber makes everyday tasks easier without bending, straining, or stretching — ideal for seniors, post-surgery patients, and anyone with limited mobility who wants to maintain independence at home. The magnetic tip retrieves small metal objects like coins and keys effortlessly, while the rotating jaw pivots to grab items at any angle — off shelves, under furniture, or in tight spaces. Available in 26" and 32" lengths, with a folding 32" option that collapses for easy storage.
Which length should I choose — 26" or 32"?
The 26" reacher is well-suited for most seated tasks — picking items up from the floor while sitting in a chair, reaching across a table, or retrieving items from low shelves. The 32" reacher provides more reach for taller users, for picking items up from the floor while standing, or for reaching higher shelves without stretching. If you are recovering from hip or back surgery, the 32" length is generally preferred as it allows you to pick up floor items without bending at all.
What is the folding reacher and when is it useful?
The 32" folding reacher collapses at a midpoint hinge, reducing its length by approximately half for storage. This makes it easy to store in a nightstand drawer, bag, purse, or wheelchair pouch — ideal for users who travel, use a wheelchair, or want a reacher that is out of the way when not in use. The folding mechanism locks securely in the open position during use. The non-folding 32" reacher is slightly more rigid and may be preferred for heavier or more frequent use.
How does the magnetic tip work?
The magnetic tip is embedded in the jaw of the reacher and attracts small ferromagnetic metal objects — coins, keys, bottle caps, screws, and similar items — without needing to grip them with the jaw. Simply bring the tip close to the metal object and it will attach magnetically, allowing you to lift and retrieve it without precise jaw alignment. The magnetic tip works in addition to the standard jaw grip, so you can use either function depending on the object you are retrieving.
What types of objects can the reacher grab?
The rotating jaw can grip a wide range of everyday objects — clothing, shoes, bottles, cans, remote controls, books, and most household items. The jaw rotates to accommodate objects at different angles, making it easier to grab items that are lying flat on the floor or positioned awkwardly on a shelf. Very small, lightweight items (like a single sheet of paper) or very heavy items may be more challenging. The magnetic tip handles small metal objects that the jaw might struggle to grip.
