The Low Profile CAM Walker Boot is a low-top walking boot designed for immobilization and support of foot and ankle injuries. The low profile design provides a lower overall height than standard CAM walkers, making it suitable for patients who need a less bulky boot for daily activity. The rocker bottom sole promotes a more natural gait pattern during ambulation, and the cushioned heel absorbs energy during heel strike. Anatomically correct design for superior patient comfort. Fits either left or right foot. Black. Medium.
For use with soft tissue injuries, grade 2 and grade 3 sprains, stable fractures, and post-operative stabilization. Use as directed by a healthcare provider.
What is the difference between a low profile and a standard CAM walker?
A standard CAM walker extends higher up the leg, typically to mid-calf or higher, providing more rigid immobilization of the ankle and lower leg. A low profile CAM walker has a lower overall height that ends closer to the ankle, providing immobilization of the foot and ankle with less restriction of the lower leg. The low profile design is less bulky, lighter, and easier to wear during daily activity for injuries that do not require the higher level of immobilization provided by a standard walker. Your healthcare provider will recommend the appropriate style based on your injury type and severity.
How do I determine if Medium is the correct size?
The Medium size fits men's shoe sizes 7.5 to 10 and women's shoe sizes 9 to 11. Check your regular shoe size before ordering. If you are between sizes, the larger size typically provides a more comfortable fit. CAM walkers that are too small will be uncomfortable and may not provide adequate immobilization, while those that are too large will not fit securely and may shift during ambulation. Small is available for men's sizes up to 7 and women's sizes up to 8.5, and Large is available for men's sizes 10.5 to 12.
Does this boot fit both the left and right foot?
Yes. The universal design fits either the left or right foot without modification. This is a common design feature of low profile CAM walkers that allows clinicians to dispense the boot without needing to stock separate left and right versions. The anatomically correct design accommodates both feet comfortably in the universal configuration.
Can I walk normally while wearing this boot?
The rocker bottom sole is designed to promote a more natural gait pattern during ambulation by allowing a smooth heel-to-toe rolling motion rather than the flat, shuffling gait that can occur with a rigid flat-soled boot. Most patients can ambulate with a relatively normal gait pattern while wearing the boot. A contralateral shoe lift on the unaffected foot may be recommended by your healthcare provider to equalize leg length and reduce hip and back strain during extended wear. Follow your healthcare provider's guidance on weight-bearing status and activity level while wearing the boot.
