Clinician-grade accuracy in a compact, portable design. The Nonin Onyx Vantage 9590 is a professional fingertip pulse oximeter built for fast, reliable readings of blood oxygen saturation (SpO2) and pulse rate in clinical, emergency, and field environments. Powered by Nonin’s proprietary PureSAT® SpO2 technology, it delivers accurate readings across a wide range of patients — including pediatric and adult users — even in challenging conditions.
The brilliant clinician-facing LED display is readable from any angle, day or night, and the three-color pulse quality indicator provides instant assessment of signal strength. Proven to withstand a minimum of 50 drops and weighing less than two ounces, the 9590 is built for the demands of professional use. Made in the USA.
What is PureSAT® technology and why does it matter?
PureSAT® is Nonin’s proprietary signal processing technology that filters out motion artifact and low-perfusion interference to deliver accurate SpO2 readings even in challenging conditions — such as patient movement, poor circulation, or low perfusion states. This is a key differentiator from consumer-grade oximeters, which can produce inaccurate readings in these situations. For clinical and emergency use where accuracy is critical, PureSAT® technology provides the reliability that healthcare professionals depend on.
What does the three-color pulse quality indicator show?
The three-color pulse quality indicator gives the clinician an immediate visual assessment of the strength and reliability of the pulse signal being detected. A strong, consistent signal is indicated by one color, while weaker or less reliable signals are indicated by different colors — alerting the user to reposition the device or investigate further before relying on the reading. This helps prevent acting on inaccurate readings caused by poor probe placement or low perfusion.
Is this oximeter suitable for use on children?
Yes. The Nonin 9590 accommodates finger thicknesses from 8 mm to 25.4 mm, making it suitable for older children and adults. For very young children or infants with smaller fingers, a dedicated pediatric or neonatal probe or wrap sensor may be more appropriate. Consult your clinical protocol or Nonin’s product documentation for guidance on appropriate patient sizing.
How durable is this oximeter for field and emergency use?
The Nonin 9590 has been drop-tested to withstand a minimum of 50 drops, making it one of the more rugged fingertip oximeters available for professional use. Its compact, lightweight design (under 2 oz) makes it easy to carry in a pocket or kit bag for EMS, field, and emergency settings where durability and portability are essential.
