Advanced combination therapy in a single portable system. The Drive Medical PreserveTech™ LS9500N is an active mattress replacement system that combines lateral rotation therapy and on-demand low air loss in one complete unit — assisting with pulmonary blood flow, mucosal drainage, and microclimate control to aid in the prevention and treatment of pressure injuries. Twenty individual 8" split air cells run head to toe, providing customizable turn angles and rotation timing for optimal patient comfort and pressure redistribution. Ten-inch high side air bolsters provide fall prevention and facilitate safe patient transfers. A 2" foam base protects the patient in the event of a power outage or system failure. The removable quilted four-way stretch cover is antimicrobial, fluid resistant, low shear, and vapor permeable. Weight capacity: 500 lbs. Color: Blue.
What is lateral rotation therapy and why is it used?
Lateral rotation therapy (LRT) involves slowly and continuously turning the patient from side to side on the mattress — typically between 15 and 40 degrees — at programmed intervals. This movement assists with pulmonary blood flow and mucosal drainage, helping to prevent and treat respiratory complications such as ventilator-associated pneumonia and atelectasis in immobile patients. LRT also redistributes pressure across different body surfaces with each turn, reducing the sustained pressure on any single area that leads to pressure injury formation. The LS9500N allows clinicians to program turn angle, direction, and cycle time to match the patient’s specific clinical needs.
How does on-demand low air loss work?
Low air loss therapy involves the controlled release of air through small perforations in the mattress cover, creating a gentle airflow across the patient’s skin surface. This airflow wicks away moisture and heat, maintaining an optimal microclimate at the skin-mattress interface — reducing the humidity and temperature elevation that accelerate skin breakdown and pressure injury development. The LS9500N’s on-demand feature allows the low air loss function to be activated as needed rather than running continuously, giving clinicians control over the level of microclimate management based on the patient’s condition.
What happens if the power goes out?
The 2" foam base built into the LS9500N provides a protective support surface in the event of a power outage or system failure. If the air cells deflate, the foam base maintains a minimum level of support to prevent the patient from bottoming out on the bed frame — a critical safety feature for high-risk patients. The CPR connector allows for rapid deflation of the mattress when emergency access to the patient is required. The audio and visual alarm system alerts caregivers when air pressure drops below the required level during normal operation.
Is this mattress compatible with standard hospital bed frames?
The LS9500N is a full mattress replacement system measuring 36" x 80" x 10", designed to replace the existing mattress on a standard hospital bed frame. Confirm that your bed frame accommodates a 36" wide x 80" long mattress and has sufficient clearance for the 10" mattress height plus the control unit and tubing connections. The built-in loop cable management system helps organize tubing and reduce tripping hazards at the bedside. Contact us to confirm compatibility with your specific bed frame before ordering.
