The raised toilet seat with the padded arms and the locking mechanism built for heavy daily use. The Drive Raised Toilet Seat with Padded Removable Arms adds 5" of height to your existing standard toilet and features full-length foam-padded armrests that extend the entire length of the arm for comfortable push-up support during sitting and standing. The arms are removable without tools, so they can be taken off when not needed or for caregiver-assisted transfers. The improved locking device uses a heavy-duty worm screw and locking plate — a more robust mechanism than standard clip-style locks — engineered for a safe, secure fit that does not loosen with repeated use. Heavy-duty molded plastic construction. Fits most standard (round) toilets. Backed by a limited lifetime warranty. Color: White. Country of Origin: China.
What makes the worm screw locking device better than a standard lock?
Most raised toilet seats use a simple clip or lever mechanism that grips the toilet bowl rim. The Drive worm screw locking device uses a threaded worm screw that drives a heavy-duty locking plate against the underside of the bowl rim — similar in principle to a C-clamp. This creates a more positive, adjustable grip that can be tightened to accommodate different bowl rim thicknesses and is less likely to loosen with repeated daily use than a clip-style mechanism. For users who rely heavily on the seat for support during every sit-to-stand transition, a more robust locking mechanism is an important safety feature.
Why does full-length foam padding on the arms matter?
Short or partial padding only covers the area where the hand grips the arm, leaving the forearm and elbow resting on bare plastic. Full-length foam padding covers the entire armrest surface, which is more comfortable for users who rest their forearms on the arms during sitting, lean on the arms for extended periods, or use the full length of the arm to push up during standing. For users with sensitive skin, poor circulation, or who spend extended time on the toilet, full-length padding reduces pressure and discomfort on the forearm and elbow.
Is this for standard round or elongated toilets?
This seat is designed for standard round toilet bowls. Standard round bowls are approximately 16.5" long from the seat bolt holes to the front of the rim. If your toilet has an elongated bowl (approximately 18.5" long), see the elongated version (SKU 1152C) instead. If you are unsure whether your toilet is round or elongated, measure the bowl length from the bolt holes to the front rim before purchasing.
Can the arms be removed for caregiver-assisted transfers?
Yes — the arms remove without tools, making it straightforward for a caregiver to detach one or both arms to allow a lateral transfer from a wheelchair or shower chair to the toilet. Once the transfer is complete, the arms can be reattached quickly for the user to use during standing. This flexibility makes the removable arm design practical in home health and long-term care settings where both independent use and caregiver-assisted transfers occur.
