A standard folding walker gets you moving — but adding wheels makes daily mobility significantly smoother and less fatiguing. The Drive Universal Walker Wheels convert most standard folding walkers into wheeled walkers with a straightforward installation, using 2-sided positioning holes that fit the leg tubes of most leading walker brands including Invacare, Guardian, Sunrise, and Rubbermaid. The 5" grey polypropylene and PVC wheels glide easily over irregular surfaces, and the included rear glide caps allow the back legs to slide smoothly over most floor types. With an 8" height adjustment range and a 350 lb weight capacity, these wheels accommodate a wide range of users and setups. Sold as a pair.
How do I know if these wheels will fit my walker?
These wheels are designed with 2-sided positioning holes to fit the leg tubes of most standard folding walkers from leading manufacturers including Invacare, Guardian, Sunrise, and Rubbermaid. The 8" height adjustment range accommodates most standard walker leg diameters and heights. If you are unsure whether your specific walker model is compatible, check the leg tube diameter against the wheel hub opening, or contact us with your walker's brand and model number before ordering.
Are these fixed wheels or swivel wheels?
These are fixed wheels, meaning they roll in a straight forward-and-back direction and do not swivel. Fixed wheels provide stable, controlled forward movement and are the standard configuration for most wheeled walkers. They are well-suited for users who push the walker forward in a consistent direction during ambulation. If you need swivel wheels for tighter turning radius or more omnidirectional movement, look for a swivel wheel accessory designed for your specific walker model.
What do the rear glide caps do?
The rear glide caps fit over the back legs of the walker and allow them to slide smoothly across hard floor surfaces as the user pushes the walker forward. Without glide caps, the rubber tips on the rear legs would drag and catch on the floor, making the walker harder to push and potentially causing the user to trip. Glide caps are the standard solution for the rear legs of a wheeled walker and are included with this set so the walker is ready to use immediately after installation.
Can these wheels be installed without tools?
Installation typically requires removing the existing rubber tips from the front legs of the walker and sliding the wheel assembly onto the leg tube, then securing it at the desired height using the positioning holes. Most installations can be completed with minimal tools — a screwdriver may be needed depending on the walker model. If you are unsure about installation, consult the included instructions or contact us for guidance.
