Thong sandals and flip-flops cause two distinct comfort problems — friction and blisters where the thong post passes between the toes, and impact discomfort on the ball of the foot from thin, unsupported soles. The Visco-GEL Thong Sandal Guard addresses both in one device. Soft gel surrounds the sandal thong post to reduce friction and prevent blisters and irritation between the toes. An extended gel pad protects the ball of the foot, absorbs shock, and adds cushioning to thin-soled sandals and flip-flops. Universal fit. Visco-GEL/Silipos brand.
How does the thong guard work and how do I install it?
The gel thong guard is a ring or sleeve of soft gel that slides over the sandal post — the vertical peg that passes between the 1st and 2nd toes. Once in place, the gel surrounds the post and creates a cushioned barrier between the post and the skin of the toes, eliminating the direct contact that causes friction and blisters. To install, slide the gel guard onto the sandal post from the top before putting on the sandal. The universal fit accommodates most standard thong post diameters.
Does the ball-of-foot pad stay in place during walking?
The extended gel pad sits under the ball of the foot and is held in position by the sandal strap and the weight of the foot during wear. The gel has a slight self-adhesive quality against the sandal footbed that helps it stay in position during normal walking. For extended activity or if the pad shifts during wear, the pad can be secured to the sandal footbed with a small piece of double-sided tape.
Will this fit my sandals?
The universal fit is designed to accommodate most standard thong sandals and flip-flops with a single post between the 1st and 2nd toes. It is not designed for sandals with wide straps, multiple toe loops, or non-standard post configurations. The gel guard stretches to fit a range of post diameters, and the ball-of-foot pad is sized to cover the metatarsal area of most adult feet.
How do I clean and reuse the guard?
Rinse with mild soap and warm water, allow to air dry completely, and the guard is ready to reuse. The gel maintains its cushioning and self-adhesive properties through repeated washing. Replace when the gel is torn or no longer provides adequate cushioning. The guard can be transferred between different pairs of sandals as needed.
