Lightweight, strong, and easy to fold with one hand. This Drive Medical adult folding walker features a trigger-release folding mechanism that can be operated using fingers, palm, or the side of the hand — making it accessible for users with limited hand strength or dexterity. The cross braces are positioned near the top of the frame to allow a full, natural gait during walking. Built from 1" diameter aluminum for maximum strength while remaining lightweight at just 7 lbs, it supports users from 5’2" to 6’2" in height with a 350 lb weight capacity. Color: Flame Blue.
How does the trigger-release folding mechanism work?
The trigger-release mechanism allows the walker to be folded with a single motion using the fingers, palm, or side of the hand — no pinching or squeezing of small buttons required. This makes it significantly easier to fold and unfold for users with arthritis, limited grip strength, or reduced hand dexterity compared to standard two-button folding walkers. To fold, activate the trigger release and bring the sides of the walker together. To unfold, open the frame until it locks into the open position.
Why are the cross braces positioned near the top?
On standard folding walkers, cross braces positioned lower on the frame can interfere with the user’s stride, causing the feet or ankles to catch on the brace during walking. By positioning the cross braces near the top of the frame, this walker allows a full, natural gait without obstruction — an important feature for users who are working on gait rehabilitation or who take longer strides.
What is the difference between a wheeled walker and a standard walker?
A standard (non-wheeled) walker must be lifted and placed forward with each step, which requires more upper body strength and coordination. A wheeled walker — like this model with 5" front wheels — glides forward continuously without lifting, making it easier to use for users who have difficulty lifting the walker or who walk at a faster pace. The 5" wheels provide smooth rolling on most indoor surfaces and light outdoor terrain. Always consult your physical therapist for guidance on which walker type is appropriate for your specific condition.
How do I set the correct handle height?
Stand upright in your normal walking shoes with your arms hanging naturally at your sides. The walker handles should be at approximately wrist crease height, which allows a slight bend at the elbow (approximately 15–20 degrees) when gripping — this is the optimal position for weight transfer and posture during walking. This walker fits users from 5’2" to 6’2". Adjust the height using the push-button adjustment on each leg and confirm both sides are set to the same height before use.
